We thought this would also be the perfect time to educate parents on some frequently overlooked topics regarding your children’s oral health. From the moment they’re born until the day they head off to school and beyond, a lot can happen to their smiles. When you imagine a healthy smile, a bright set of perfect, uniform teeth probably come to mind. We seem to be programmed to think that nice looking teeth must also be the picture of oral health. However, there are a few key factors that determine the color of our teeth, which are actually at work beneath the surface of the tooth.
When it comes to your child’s oral health, if they must have some candy, a little “candy-binge” is better than grazing all day long… or all month long. After being exposed to sugar, our mouths work to restore optimal pH balance and use our saliva to clean our teeth. That means the more times your teeth are exposed to sugar is more critical than the quantity of sugar they're exposed to.
